These stunning handcrafted Binga wall baskets are a traditional fair trade item from Zimbabwe. Also known as Tonga baskets, they are crafted from various natural, locally sourced materials, primarily using leaves from the Ilala palm, and dyed with tree bark. Creating one of these baskets requires a labour-intensive process, typically taking around two weeks to complete.
Wall Mounting Binga baskets can be effortlessly hung on the wall by inserting a small nail through the weaving pattern. This allows the baskets to rest flush against the wall, with the nail blending seamlessly into the weave, remaining hidden from view.
